INTEGRATED MARTIAL ARTS/DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY

Academy Newsletter

Written on the 14th of December 2011

Dear members, friends and family, thank you for your continued support and participation within the Integrated Martial Arts/Development Academy. This newsletter will briefly focus on the most recent experiences and then provide details about a few of the upcoming events that are on the near horizon.

19th of October 2011: New MMA Training Venue. Once again we would like to thank Dan’s Boxing & Fitness Gym in Pialba, for allowing us to rent their facilities. This new venue is specifically suited to Martial Arts, Boxing & Fitness training and has a great feeling to it.

۩
All instructors and students were excited to move into the new venue as it provided more space and a great atmosphere to develop.
We have purchased some more inter-locking mats so as to expand into the extra space.

26th of October 2011: Certificate Presentation at Xavier College. It is always an honour to have the opportunity to present the self-development certificates to the Xavier College students. The teachers also enabled me to do a motivational talk on the morning assembly about the importance of personal development, inner strength and courage.

Congratulations to each of the students who completed the course requirements to earn their Integrated Development Certificates.

27th of October 2011: Brown Belt Grading at Dundowran Hall. Well done to the following students who were able to achieve their brown belts; Lennard van Eerden, Damien Curran and Liam McGrath.

۩
Each of the students fulfilled their grading requirements very thoroughly and we were all very proud of their personal commitments and efforts.

10th of November 2011: Integrated Self-Development Workshop for the Community Solutions organisation in Maryborough. This was another very activating experience for all involved as we united together within an intention of identifying, discussing and transcending any limiting belief structures and habitual thought/behaviour patterns.

Well done to all participants for contributing towards this day of positive thinking, inspirational insights and empowering experiences.

17th of November 2011: TAFE College Presentations: I would like to extend my congratulations to all of the many students from Hervey Bay TAFE who received their Integrated Development Certificates during their official Graduation Ceremony. To earn the certificates the students had successfully completed a series of classes earlier in the year.

Well done to you all and also a special mention to their teacher Vikki Glanfield who organised and also participated within the classes.

19th of November 2011: Fight World Cup 10: This event was held at the Gold Coast PCYC and proved to be another successful event and character building experience for the Integrated Academy. Congratulations to Liam Mahony and Josh Seedsman for their great efforts on the night.

۩
Both young men were able to win their respective bouts against older and more experienced opponents,
and it was very inspiring to witness the high level of mutual respect and sportsmanship exchanged between the fighters.

۩
Thank you to everyone who helped Liam & Josh prepare for the event. Keep up the great work everyone.

25th of November 2011: White Ribbon Day: It was an honour to become a community ambassador for such a worthwhile and important cause. It was also a very special feeling to witness so many of the Integrated Academy students who were willing to support the White Ribbon Day by not only wearing the special wristbands and pendants but also to dedicate a personal pledge of non-violence towards women. This step of courage, love and integrity will always be honoured and respected.

1st of December 2011: Blue Belt Grading at the Dundowran hall. Congratulations to the following students who attained their blue belts; Brad Edwards, Musashi Curtis, Hope Truscott, Tamekah Hall and Bianca Woof.

۩
Each of these students did very well and deserve all of the continued success and personal progression that this world has to offer.

3rd & 4th of December 2011: Integrated Development Camp. This was an event that took place at the Flame Lily Adventure property on the Burrum River. It proved to be an unforgettable experience shared by all.

۩
Thank you to each and every person that participated in the weekend adventure and especially to the students and friends who helped out with the food preparation & cleaning up etc. Many character building activities were enjoyed by all involved and even though this is only our second year of planning
and implementing these weekend Development Camp's there has already been a very noticeable expansion and progression.

۩

I would like to extend a special note of gratitude to Jimmy & Cathy Swan, Ray & Libby Johnston, Pete Agnew, Blazin Benny Broadhead and also to Col Green who all were key components to the success and quality of the experience.

۩
If you would like to experience the Flame Lily property all necessary info is available at www.flamelilyadventures.com.au
I have created an inspirational highlight video of the development camp (here is a link for anyone interested: http://youtu.be/ODTGnhbeKjk )

9th of December 2011: Cage Wars 6. Integrated Academy student Greg Atzori continued his amazing flow of success against a strongly credentialed opponent during their bout at the Southport RSL.

Well done once again Greg, your personal level of focus and self discipline is very inspiring.

11th of December 2011: Exercise-Athon. This was the 5th year in a row that we have had this event and it never gets any less difficult ! In total we had 15 very determined students turn up to do as many pushups, situps & squat punches as they possibly could within the 1hour duration.

۩

I would like to personally thank each and every participant (and their sponsors) for being involved in this annual event. There are also a few students who are doing the exercise-athon at home. The funds earned will be designated towards the Heart Foundation www.heartfoundation.org.au plus also the Academy’s Christmas BBQ & Trophy Presentations.

Some of the next events to look forward to within the coming weeks will be;

Black Belt Grading: Thursday the 22nd of December at the Dundowran Hall. Please come along to support Dale MacKenzie, Nathan Duce and Levon McGrath as they have put alot of heartfelt preparation and self-discipline into their Integrated Martial Arts journey.

Integrated Academy Christmas BBQ & Trophy Presentations: Saturday the 24th of December at “The Gables” BBQ area at Point Vernon (near the Eagle’s nest). The gathering will commence from 11 am. Please bring a chair to place under the shade of the trees.

Other notes of interest;

۞ Our classes will re-commence in 2012 on Monday night the 9th of January at the PCYC pulse room, Tuesday night the 10th of January at the Dundowran Hall, and the MMA classes will re-commence on Wednesday the 11th of January at Dan’s Boxing & Fitness Gym in Pialba.

۞ 2011 has been an amazing journey, filled with a continual flow of enjoyable and character building experiences. Thank you once again for your continual support and participation within the progression of the Integrated Academy.
