INTEGRATED MARTIAL ARTS/DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY

Latest Academy Newsletter

Written on the 13th of June 2010

I would like to begin our mid-year newsletter by sending out my congratulations towards all of the many students who throughout this first half of 2010 have been striving forward with dedication on a journey of personal development. It has been an awesome year so far with lots of progression and many great experiences shared by all. Some of the recent achievements that have occurred since our previous newsletter have been;

* Kids Martial Arts Mentoring Day: This event occurred at the Fraser Coast Anglican College on the 12th of April. It was the second year in succession that the Integrated Academy has been invited by the FCAC to facilitate a Martial Arts Day of fitness, fun and learning.

All of the students and teachers joined in on the many activities on the day and enjoyed their experience.

* The next achievement was attained by a group of young men from the Glendyne Education & Training Centre who on the 29th of April completed a five week long Martial Arts/Self-Development course.

This was the first of many such courses that are scheduled throughout the year for the various schools and community groups within the Fraser Coast.

* The Giving Blood Day event occurred this year on the 1st of May and was once again a great success. Well done and thankyou to all who showed up on the day, especially to the 13 brave warriors who rolled up their sleeves to give of this much needed resource.

۩

It was good to see that a couple of the students who had never donated blood before were willing to rise up through their inner fears and come out the other side very empowered and glad that they were able to do so. I would like to extend my appreciation also to the workers at the Australian Red Cross Blood Centre for their support and kindness throughout this particular experience.

* The next occurrence was the Amateur PowerLifting Challenge 8 event which occurred at Otto’s Fitness World on the 9th of May. It was great to see so many personal best power lifts being attained throughout the event.

Congratulations to all participants for not only your own personal efforts but also for the awesome amount of mutual support and encouragement that was given on the day.

* The 15th of May became another important day of achievement when four of our long-term Academy students completed the Martial Arts Instructor Accreditation Induction at the Caxton Street Sport’s House in Brisbane. I would like to congratulate Tahnee MacKenzie, Kevin Walsh, Michael Reynolds and Troy O’Rourke for this particular endeavour.

All the best guys for the completion of your remaining accreditation requirements. Call me if you need a hand.

* Another special focus that the Integrated Academy was involved in was an event called the UnityWave.  This was a very inspiring new initiative that involved Integrated Academy members, friends and families joining with many other motivated individuals and Positive Unity groups throughout the world in a synchronised effort to extend a healing and harmonising energy to places and/or people in need. The first wave of united intention occurred on the 22nd of May at 9am (Eastern Australia time). It was a great experience to join in co-operation with so many inspired people from all over the world for this event.

There are video and audio links accessible from the UnityWave website. www.unitywave.com (this also links to the UnityWave YouTube page).

* The next event was the much anticipated Brown Belt Grading that occurred at the Dundowran Hall on the 27th of May.

As was expected this ended up being an awesome event and a great experience by all involved, including all of our many supportive students, friends and family members.

Congratulations to Will Somerfield, Dale MacKenzie, Nathan Duce, Levon McGrath and Nathan Hartley who all did exceptionally well throughout the various grading requirements.

* I would also like to extend my congratulations to Greg Atzori who on the 29th of May was once again victorious in another Hexagon MMA event (this time in Coffs Harbour).

۩

Greg’s continual success comes as no surprise to any of us due to the obvious dedication and self-disciplined approach that he has towards all that he focuses on in life.

* The senior students from the Glendyne Education & Training Centre also completed their Martial Arts/Self-Development Course on the 3rd of June. These continual courses are being facilitated at Otto’s Fitness World and it is great to see each of the students involved benefiting so much through their personal efforts of participation.

Thankyou also to Chep Krummel and also to Greg & Melanie Atzori who have been contributing towards the success of these classes.

* On the 9th of June I was also given the opportunity to visit the Glendyne Education Centre to do the official certificate presentation and also to speak at the morning assembly about the value of self-development and goal setting in life.

I send my best wishes to all of the students, teachers and youth support workers out at Glendyne, keep up the good work guys.
